For several years my husband and I would travel to Ontario for business a couple of times a year. The town where we spent most of the time had lovely little shops that I would escape to whenever I could. One of my favorites had architectural salvage from doors to windows to doorknobs to iron gates and on and on. I always wished I could pack up more of it to take home with me!
One of their cabinets held little bits of pressed wood mouldings that could be glued onto furniture (I assume) to add interest. Some of them were warped or broken but I found some that were in great shape. I brought home a few and glued them to a couple of projects. One of these projects was to take plain wood magazine holders, glue on the moulding and then paint and gold leaf them. I loved the way they turned out! Kind of antique looking – like me!
Another piece ended up on this little mirror. You can see one of the last remaining pieces propped against the mirror.
So keep your eyes open for those finishing touches that add a unique touch to your projects!
