USA Days 1 and 2
On September28, Les and I left for a 3 week adventure in the USA. Our goal was to reach Albuquerque, New Mexico by October 4th for the Balloon Fiesta held there every year, so we gave ourselves a week to get there.
On the first day we drove to Livingston, Montana. It was a loooooong day. We arrived in the dark which always makes the first peek out the windows the next morning interesting. We were camped a few miles north of the north entrance to Yellowstone Park so our first views of the area were beautiful!
We rode the motorbike into the park. The views just got better and better.
At the entrance to the park there was a magnificent arch with the saying “For the benefit and enjoyment of the people”.
All through the park we stopped to enjoy the vistas of rivers and waterfalls.
Near the end we stopped at Norris Geyser Basin. It was magical! The sky was overcast at that point which that made for some great photo opportunities at that location.
The fall colours were wonderful in Yellowstone but it did not compare with what we would see in Colorado later in the trip. Next stop – the site of Custer’s last stand.
