Day 16 was a travel day for us. We moved the trailer from Durango, Colorado to Green River, Utah. I think that we followed the same road back in 2007 on a road trip. I loved the sunflower fields we drove past.
The farmland transitioned into red rock the closer we got to Green River. This is a favorite stopping spot for us. It is close to Moab (where a couple National Parks can be found) but quieter. The KOA campground is easy to get to and the sites are large and level. A claim to fame in Green River is their melons and we picked up a couple to enjoy. Yum!
Once we were set up we drove the bike back to Moab to pick up a Starbucks treat. It was Thanksgiving in Canada after all and I always miss my family when we are away on that day.
The next day we drove back to Moab to explore Arches National Park … again. It is one of my favorite parks and we had never been there in the fall. In reality, it didn’t look that different than it would any other time of year, but it was still wonderful to make the drive and take some photos.
Arches National Park is famous for, you guessed it, its arches.
And the huge red rock formations are so different than what we are used to at home.
I think this is the first time we came across rock climbers in this park.
Many years ago, people actually ranched in this area.
The next day we left Green River and started heading home. Only one more post in this series and on to Christmas!
