Every once in a while when we are away with our trailer, we will pack up the bike and head out for a couple of nights. On this trip we went to Santa Fe, New Mexico. We have been to Santa Fe before and loved it so we decided to go again. We booked a couple of nights at the Inn and Spa at Loretto just off of the Plaza.
On this trip we were in 4 different states: Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and briefly in Arizona. Of course, we had to stop at the Four Corners, where all of these states meet. The monument is run by the Navajo and has vendor booths set up all around it. You can walk around a disk and hit all 4 states!
The ride to Santa Fe turned nasty for awhile so we didn’t stop often. Which makes me quite sore. It was good to get to our hotel and relax for the evening.
The next day we hit sites that were in walking distance. We retraced our steps from a few years before as we walked around the Plaza.
Then we stopped at the oldest church in Santa Fe – San Miguel Church.
As well as the oldest house.
Our next stop was the New Mexico government buildings.
We enjoyed a few delicious meals while we were there and then headed back to the trailer the next day. This time we were able to stop more often and take in the beauty of the area. We also took advantage of a roadside food trailer and tried frybread.
The scenery was quite varied on this road trip. Though I haven’t included photos here, the route home took us through pine trees and higher plains close to Colorado. Travel is such a wonderful thing!
