Christmas is over and it is time to start getting back into our regular life. Which, to me, means getting back to blogging after months of not being able to. I thought I would tell you about our latest adventure – USA 2017.
We left September 16 and took 2 days to get to Scottsbluff, Nebraska. We arrived in a thunderstorm, which was pretty spectacular! The next day we got on the bike and drove back to Fort Laramie National Historic Site over the border in Wyoming. Of course, we passed corn fields as we drove down the road.
We both love historic sites, so this was right up our alley. We could have stayed here much longer if we had the time. The buildings here ranged from well preserved to ruins. And because it was not busy, we got to spend some time with a couple of the staff to get further insight into the era.
On the way back we stopped at King Iron Bowstring Bridge, built in 1876 over the North Platte River.
We drove back the way we came and then stopped at Scotts Bluff National Monument. You can see the Monument for miles around so it served as a marker on the trail to guide wagon trains. You can how drive to the top to get a view of the surrounding area.
The day was in the high 20’s so not uncomfortable on the back of the bike. Those days were yet to come!
