Homemade Buns and Hamburger Soup
Yesterday Sundre woke up to a sky that looked like this:
It continued to be grey all day so after running errands I decided that it was a good day for homemade buns and hamburger soup! My bun recipe is from my mom (of course) and the hamburger soup recipe is from the Company’s Coming “Soup and Sandwich” recipe book.
The buns start with scalded liquid.
Then you add sugar and butter and salt.
Once it is cooled, you add it to a flour and yeast mix.
Then you knead it until you have a good consistency.
Let it rise a couple of times, punching it down in between.
The next step is to divide it into 6 chunks.
Then you roll out each chunk (a real chef term there) and cut it into 12 triangles.
You roll up each triangle into a crescent bun and let them rise again.
Mmmm. Love the smell of baking buns!
Brush with melted butter out of the oven. Don’t they look yummy?
Yes they are!
Now add some hamburger soup from the slow cooker. It’s a great meal on a cool day!
