Spending a week or two on Shuswap Lake in the summer is a staple in our vacation routine. We started going when our kids were young and we camped in a tent (with our boat in a marina). We have stayed on a houseboat or in a cabin or in a hotel. The houseboat is our favorite way to go as we are hermits by nature and finding that perfect quiet spot out on the lake is perfection!
I purchased my DSLR camera in 2008 and almost always take it along when we go on a vacation. My photos went from documenting a vacation to trying to capture the beauty around us. Of course, digital technology has made that possible. I can take as many photos of one scene as I want to try and get the shot!
Shuswap Lake has provided a variety of subject matter. When I originally posted this photo of a bug on my Facebook wall it received a lot of feedback!
The lake itself has many moods and I have enjoyed trying to capture its beauty.
The flora is varied and a stroll along the rocky beaches with a macro lens can give an interesting perspective.
Of course, the drive to the lake has many places to stop and play around with the settings on my camera. Slowing down the shutter speed and closing down the aperture can give such a lovely soft effect to water!
This has me thinking of our week on the houseboat this summer. I can’t wait!
