How I Make My Morning Latte
A few years ago a friend of ours opened a coffee shop in Sundre. It opened my world up to the wonders of coffee beverages. I don’t care for the taste of a plain cup of coffee but I do like it blended with milk and/or flavoured syrups.
For several years, I had an espresso maker with a steamer function for the milk but my last machine failed and I was left coming up with a way to make my latte with a Keurig. I am not a connoisseur by any means but this works for me.
I start with some flavoured syrup in the bottom of my mug.
I then add some cold skim milk but I only fill it to about an inch from the rim of the mug.
I use a milk frother to create some foam. It only takes a few seconds and for some unknown reason I like the foam.
The mug goes in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds. While it heats up, I make my espresso with the Keurig. I use the refillable pod to help keep garbage down.
I choose the smallest cup size on the Keurig but I still have some espresso wasted when I’m done.
When the milk and syrup combo is hot and the espresso is made, I pour the espresso into the mug. And I always spill some.
I mix it up gently with a spoon and then…
I enjoy it.
