Wild Roses
Alberta’s provincial flower is the wild rose. A couple of weeks ago, I spent some time in the evening photographing some roses along a road.
There were hundreds of them along this road and the light was lovely. The only problem was the mosquitoes, which prevented me from lingering.
Did you know that Alberta adopted the wild rose as its official flower in 1930? It started with the editor of an Edmonton newspaper making the suggestion that a floral emblem be selected for the province. The province’s schoolchildren made the final choice. Cool eh?
I think they made the right choice!
