Crabapple Bonsai
One of the comments I received on an early post of this blog was a request to see the trunk of our “bonsai” apple tree. So here it is.
I took the photo a few weeks ago and promptly forgot about it! You can see how twisted it is. When we moved here, the original tree had been damaged and the ornamental root it had been grafted to had taken over. My hubby pruned away that portion of the tree so that the fruit bearing branches could take over.
The crabapples are starting to develop. By fall it should be loaded down with fruit. The cedar waxwings will be pleased!
