Wood Refresher
We are doing much better in the Hengen household. Les’ pain is pretty much under control. The flu is gone. We are gaining ground. Yay!
I purchased this butter press from a lovely local shop, Log Cabin Collectibles, awhile ago. I had a rectangular press already so I thought this one would go well with it. You can see that the wood looks a little dry. It is an antique after all.
In the last year or so, I have seen this easy tip for refreshing wood in a few different places so I thought I would try it out. You mix ¼ cup canola or olive oil with ¾ cup vinegar and then, using a rag, rub it into the wood. I mixed about half the recipe but didn’t use it all.
You can see the difference it makes to the wood in this photo.
The wood looked so much better after using this mixture. I don’t think it would work as a water repellent or anything like that but it did seem to bring richness to the colour of the wood. Another small project completed!
