A Birthday Table

We celebrated Les’ birthday on Saturday and had some of the people that we love most in the world join us.  Because of the flooring reno we did last year we are able to move our dining room table around, add a card table to the end and seat everyone together.  After many years of buffets and sitting anywhere you can find a spot if we had more than 8 people at a dinner party, it is a treat.

I mix and match my dishes for something like this as I don’t have more than 8 place settings of any set of dishes.  My grandsons used some silver plate goblets with some ironstone.

Others used our wedding china and crystal with napkins we purchased at a tropical location (for the life of me I can’t remember where).  I used some antique ironstone butter pats for a few of the place settings.  And added some blue bubble depression glass for fruit salad.

For others I used little silver plate shells for butter.

I really enjoy setting a table for an event.  For some reason I forgot to add a centerpiece this time around.  Oh well, it didn’t change our enjoyment of being with family one little bit!
