Mudroom Storage

There has been some talk around our place about what we are going to do as coat storage in our new sunroom.  Currently, our coats are in a closet just inside the door with a “few” hung from some pegs as well.   I have never had much room to do anything fancy but we think we can make space for it in the sunroom.  This is what I am thinking of.

I want it to look like a piece of furniture so something like this would fit the bill.  I like the dark wood seat on this but I don’t think the drawers would work.

This one is nice and simple but I don’t think it would be deep enough.  I kind of like that the baskets don’t have to be a particular size because there are no defined cubbies.

I think this one fits the bill almost perfectly.  I like that there are two levels for shoes, though there would have to be space for boots as well.  The baskets on top would be perfect for mitts, scarves and toques etc.

We already have some black cast iron hooks purchased which I think will look great.  I think they will be closer together than what is shown in the last picture.  More like the second one.  We also have some electrical that we have to cover and we have a sloped ceiling to deal with.  I’m looking forward to the finished product but until then My husband would probably appreciate any encouragement you can give him when we start.

I wish I had had a mud room when my kids were growing up! My one daughter has one built in similar to the one without the drawers. I agree – drawers are a little impractical and confining. Looking forward to seeing the finished product!

Yes, it is funny how we get some of the things later in life that we would have liked when we had kids! I guess I will just have to make use of it with the grandkids!
