Vermont
Finally, the time came to explore Vermont. We left Massachusetts and drove through the rain to our campground near the border of New York State. Distances are short in New England so we had time to tour around a little in central Vermont in the afternoon.
Our first stop was Woodstock. This pretty little town was packed with tourists. We stopped for a few minutes so that I could quickly take a few photos of the picturesque architecture and the foliage.
The next stop was Quechee Gorge. Beautiful.
The next day the weather was better and we even saw blue skies! As you can see we arrived in time for a gorgeous show of fall colour. We took the Scenic Byway north into Green Mountain National Forest. Poor Les had to be ready at any time to find a spot to stop so that I could jump out of the truck and snap a few photos.
We went as far north as Essex Junction and then turned south to head back to the trailer, stopping at Lake Champlain along the way.
We travelled down the west side of the state where it was much more open. And more like home 🙂
