The La Sal Loop Road
The La Sal Mountains are very close to Moab, Utah. We have often seen them from a distance when we have travelled in the area but have never driven over them. We decided to do it on this trip despite the fact that we could potentially hit snow while on the bike. We headed up #128 and then turned at the Castle Valley turnoff.
The road climbed gradually for quite a while changing from red dirt and rock to green and white. Once we hit the mountain it zigzagged up and we stopped frequently to look over the valley and take photos.
On the other side the land became more wild and barren looking. And as is usual on our trips, we drove through some snow.
When we headed down the other side red once again became the prominent colour.
We had some time left in the day so we drove to the Needles Overlook. This is another point where you can look into Canyonlands National Park.
It was a very full camera day! I only share a sampling of the photos I take. One more day and we started for home. And it was a beauty of a day!
