Les has often spoke of the “Loneliest Road in America” and how he would like to ride it one day. Now as I’m sure you will agree, this did not sound like the kind of road most of us would enjoy. It sounds bleak and I don’t like bleak.
But I was pleasantly surprised! It is a road of mountain passes and big basins with all sorts of gorgeous vast scenery.
Of course, there is the never ending sagebrush.
But there was also a lot of colour.
And there was history as well. The Pony Express and the Stagecoach ran along this route (#50).
And there were stretches of white sand.
We drove to just south of Reno for the night and then were off to Yosemite National Park the next day. It is stunning…
