What I Have Been Up To

It has been a long time since I posted on this blog!  The nicer weather has opened up all sorts of possibilities for outside projects and we have been hard at work, mostly on the farm.

We poured concrete for the waterer we put in last year.  It should keep everything much cleaner for the cows.

One day we rented a post pounder and put in posts around the farm for fencing we can do as we have time.

We also had some trees and deadfall cleared along a fence line.  It looks so much better!  We are so grateful that we have the equipment to do the final cleanup.

Our vegetable garden and greenhouse produced a so so crop this year and unfortunately was overrun by chickweed in some places.  But we did get some produce for the freezer and canning and we have been enjoying fresh vegetables for suppers.   And all the hay we need for the cows has been hauled in.

I haven’t painted much over the last month.  I had one cat portrait that I was working on that I need to scrap.  I will try again.  But I have collected lots of photos that I would like to paint.  I hope to do more this winter!  I also have quite a few online courses lined up.

I have done a little fall decorating.  I always think it makes a home look cozy with the change of the seasons.  I made a little applewood pumpkin from a branch that had been pruned off our tree.  The wood was well seasoned so was super hard to sand.  I oiled it with some hemp oil, used some old wire for a vine and tied on some cotton lace.  I quite like it!

I don’t know if you remember the green pumpkins I painted last year.  The vibrant green pumpkins!  I added a coat of whitewash to them.  They are still fairly brilliant though!

We did manage to go for a 4 day escape on the motorbike.  It wasn’t nearly long enough but it felt so great!  Hopefully travel becomes a possibility again.

We have spent quite a bit of time with family over the last couple of months and it has been wonderful.  Because, after all, people are what matter the most.  We have also been involved in some volunteering and work at the store.  I don’t know how people can get bored!  There are always so many interesting things to do in this life!
