Wanderlust 2021

In the fall of 2020, I signed up for a yearlong art journaling course called Wanderlust 2021.  It started in January, with a new lesson released every Friday for 50 weeks.  The owner of the course does many of the lessons, but there are several other teachers involved as well so you get a broad range of techniques.  This course is available for lifetime access, so there is no pressure to keep up with the lessons.  And you can share your work with others in the course or keep it private.

While I wish I had been inspired with every lesson, I have found that I enjoyed some more than others.  But I decided at the beginning that I was going to try each lesson and take what I could from it.

For those of you that are wondering, art journaling is a chance to play with art techniques without committing to a finished piece of art.  You can learn how to use different mediums, practice your skills, or just make a mess.  There is no pressure to produce a beautiful work of art when you sit down to create.

I will be able to fit all 50 lessons in the journal that I chose for the course.  But man, the binding of the book is stressed!  I love the look of it though.  It feels like an accomplishment.  After the course is over, I will decorate the cover with something I have gathered from this experience.

We are nearing the end of the process now so I thought I would share some of my favorite pages.

Every year they rework this course with new content and teachers and though I have enjoyed it and all I have learned, I am ready to move on.   But if you are creative and just want a jumpstart to commit to your art practice, it might be something to look into.  The early bird price is done, but I believe you can still sign up at full price.  You can find it at everything-art.com.
